Mastering Leptin is the name of a book that was co-authored by Byron J. Richards (CCN), and Mary Guignon Richards. The lead author is a certified clinical nutritionist, has been called a health expert who has more than two decades of experience in the medical field. The second author, on the other hand, is a Women’s Health Educator and has been a proponent of the responsibility that consumers have to take ownership and control over their own health.

What is Mastering Leptin?

Byron J. Richards is the owner of a business called Wellness Resource, which has its own website that gives consumers the ability to read articles, buy supplements, and even watch webcasts.

The book, Mastering Leptin, was written on the basis of taking action over certain elements of a person’s life in order to control leptin levels. Leptin is a type of hormone that fat cells produce. It is among the reasons that obese people have as much fat on their bodies as they do, says the book. The book also explains that by learning how to control the production of leptin, it makes it easier for someone to be able to lose weight.

There are five steps that have been identified within the book which must be followed in order to be able to take control over leptin levels. This book also contains a copy of the Leptin Diet, which provides some information about how to follow that plan. That said, the same authors have also published other books that go into greater detail with regards to that diet plan, so it could be said that these books can be used as a set, or that one book is actually a sales pitch for the other.

The Mastering Leptin book explains that this hormone contributes to obesity because it can lead to a malfunctioning metabolism, the inclination to overeat, an obsession with food, cravings for specific foods, and even heart disease. The five steps that need to be followed in order to be able to control the levels of the hormone include: eating three meals each day without snacking, never going to bed with a full stomach, avoiding the consumption of large meals, reducing the intake of carbs, and eating a breakfast that is high in proteins.

Byron Richards says in the book that problems with leptin leave the body’s metabolism functioning as though it is in starvation mode. This means that hunger levels will be high and the metabolism will run slowly, despite the fact that the body is receiving more than enough calories.
